Experience

Hello, I am Michelle and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education and have been an Early Childhood teacher for 8 years. I have a current NZ teacher registration. I am passionate about providing nurturing and enriching environments for young learners. My experience has given me a deep understanding of child development and the importance of tailoring educational experiences to meet individual needs.

Home Environment

We have a large fenced backyard for outdoor play,  a flower and vegetable garden that the children can explore. We also have a swing, treehouse and slide available for tamariki to use. The childcare space is located in an additional sleep-out that makes it truly like a home away from home where they have their own space.  We have age appropriate resources available to support the children’s holistic learning and development. We have a quiet space available for a calm environment and down time.

Our small group experience a range of activities both at home and out in our local community.
Some of our regular activities are:

* Playgroup
* Walking to the playground
* Baking
* Gardening
* Visit to the local library

Childcare Philosophy

As a teacher, I firmly believe that every child is unique, bringing their own individuality, strengths, and potential to the learning environment. I am committed to creating a space where all tamariki are accepted, valued, and celebrated for who they are.

I believe in nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning by supporting tamariki,

in discovering their potential to become independent, lifelong learners. By providing meaningful, engaging, and child-centered experiences, I aim to empower children to explore their world with curiosity and confidence.

I also recognize the vital role of whānau in a child’s growth and development. Building strong, respectful partnerships with families is at the heart of my teaching practice. By working collaboratively alongside whānau, I aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment that nurtures each child’s holistic development and well-being.

Through these beliefs, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of the tamariki under my care, helping them grow into confident individuals who embrace learning as a lifelong journey.
