Experience

Kia ora, my name is Leanne. I have been a home based educator since 2003. I love being a mum and have two beautiful daughters, 23 and 19 years old. I love spending time with my girls, reading, watching movies, and going to the beach. I enjoy working with children and their family/whānau. I have a positive attitude, great communication skills and a great sense of humour. I am committed to building confidence, independence and self‑esteem in each child I care for. I speak basic te reo and sign language.

Home Environment

I provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment for children. My home based practice is inclusive, family orientated, welcoming and full of love. I offer opportunities and resources so that tamariki (children) are free to play, explore, imagine, create and express themselves.
We explore arts and crafts at home, enjoy painting, play doh, music, dancing, puzzles, water play, toys, ride on bikes/trikes and have an awesome playhouse,...and so much more...

Community Involvement

We head out on excursions to music groups, parks, playgrounds, the zoo, the museum and the Dinsdale library.

Childcare Philosophy

I have an inclusive practice and offer equitable opportunities for learning. I encourage multicultural understanding and ensure everyone is valued, heard and respected. I uphold each child's language, customs and traditions (tikanga). It's important to me that each child feels safe, loved, happy and nurtured, and I meet all of the child's needs so they feel they belong. I believe every child deserves and has the right to great care, education and hauora (health), so they learn, create, grow, develop and achieve to their full potential. It's important to me to build and maintain positive relationships with each child and their family. I encourage open communication with all involved based on mutual respect and unity. I value the importance of manaakitanga, showing each other kindness and support so each child will thrive in each environment. Play is valued and important, as this is your child's journey to knowledge.
