Growing Young Minds with Heart

Te Whāriki, our Early Learning Curriculum

Mā te aurei o te tamaiti e ārahi i ā tātou mahi

Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work

Guided by Te Whāriki, Driven by Passion

At Edubase, our programmes are guided by Te Whāriki, our national ECE curriculum. Educators are supported by Visiting Teachers and many establish their own philosophy which becomes the driver for their programme.

We celebrate the individuality of every Educator, because that’s what sets Home-Based ECE apart from other types of ECE.

With the Te Whāriki approach in mind, we know that one size does NOT fit all. Instead, we make space for spontaneity, moving with the interests of the child to keep them happy and engaged.

Planning with Heart: Notice, Recognise, Respond

We support Educators to work within a planning framework of:

  • Notice – Seeing what the child is interested in learning about
  • Recognise – Setting learning priorities and outcomes based on Te Whāriki, our early childhood curriculum
  • Respond – How the Educator supports this learning in meaningful ways

Through a play-based curriculum that weaves learning and development, we’re able to meet tamariki where they’re at. Guided by Te Whāriki, our programmes encompass skills such as science, maths and literacy, as well as social, emotional and cultural development.

Sharing the Journey with Storypark

Children are set up with a Storypark account at no cost to families. This secure, digital space allows Educators to share learning stories and photos with parents and extended whānau, anywhere in the world. Families can keep their account active, even when children head off to school

This wonderful platform keeps families connected while children are with Educators.

Learning Beyond Four Walls

A big part of Home Based Care is being out and about, connecting with the community through events, playgroups, gym and music sessions. Educators create a curriculum that reflects the environments and cultures around them, supporting children to grow their social skills, confidence, and sense of belonging

Our Educator, Sharlena, has been both of our children’s caregiver for the past four years and she has treated our children as if they were her own. Both of our kids are incredibly confident, well-rounded individuals who have loved having Sharlena in their lives, and she will be hugely missed by our whole family. We can’t recommend her enough.

Having a home-based facility close to my work meant that my child was in an environment where she was well cared for and provided opportunities for community activities that she would not have had in a more traditional preschool setting. She thrived in the environment, and I am thankful that this was an option for my child.

I’m a parent who struggled with anxiety around childcare after a negative experience at a daycare. The home-based care I received through Homegrown Kids was calm, nurturing, and had such positive energy. It genuinely helped ease my anxiety. Our carer was incredibly loving and truly cared about my child, which made all the difference. I highly recommend Homegrown Kids to any parent looking for safe, supportive care.

Absolutely love where my child went, fitted all his needs with his disabilities being autistic, his teacher understood and helped me and my son SO much. The support was outstanding.
Thank you so much.
