Hello, I have been working as a Home Based Educator and Nanny since 2020. I was very busy providing care for young children in the Waikato town of Raglan before returning to North Canterbury in 2023. I have the Level 4 NZ Certificate in ECE and have been a casual reliever in a local preschool for 18 months.
I really enjoy supporting babies and young children develop their unique personalities and interests.
Our home is a new, warm, safe home with a private, well-fenced outdoor play area. We have a grassed area, a covered deck and sheltered seating area. We are within walking distance to the playgrounds within Pegasus.
I have a wide range of well-organised resources including art and craft, sensory play, musical play, puzzles, family play, literacy and numeracy resources and many, many children’s books.
I enjoy discovering the personality and interests of each individual baby or child. Home based care provides the freedom to encourage the interests and learning of each child in the safety of a consistent relationship.
I believe that playing is the way young children learn so that is what I encourage. It is during play and the routines of the day that I gently encourage children to recognise their feelings and begin to understand how to find the words for what might be happening for them.
I believe that flexible routines help children and babies feel comfortable and safe. I enjoy being a part of a child’s development journey and watching them grow in confidence
Moana has been fully safety screened including a 7 point check at the time of registration and these checks are completed periodically thereafter. Moana holds a First Aid certificate that is fit for purpose at all times.
We endorse Moana's suitability to work independently with children with the support of her Visiting Teacher.
