Experience

I am a qualified early childhood teacher with more than 14 years of experience across a variety of early childhood settings. Throughout my career, I have been privileged to form meaningful relationships with children and their families, grounded in trust, respect, and genuine connection. I hold a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) – Early Childhood Specialisation, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching (Early Intervention). My studies, and a range of personal and professional experiences, have given me the knowledge, skills and passion for recognising and responding to children’s individual learning and developmental needs.
I am also a mum to two young boys. In my spare time I love to garden and go on adventures with my family.

Home Environment

My home is warm and light with plenty of space to play. I have a great collection of resources to stimulate and inspire little learners. The playroom leads on to a spacious deck and large back yard so there is lovely indoor/outdoor flow. Outside there is a sandpit, playhouse and plenty of grass to run around on under the pohutukawa tree. I have a designated sleep room for when it is time to rest.

Community Involvement

I love to venture out into the community and support children's connections with the wider world. The Beach Haven coastal walk is on my doorstep and Shepherd’s park is a short stroll away. Visiting the library, attending playgroups, watching buses go by or observing a local construction site are all wonderful learning opportunities that I like to share with children.

Childcare Philosophy

I provide a range of learning experiences that cater to the individual needs and interests of children. We enjoy a range of art experiences, music and story time, messy/sensory play, waterplay, constructing in the sandpit, family play and plenty of free play with the many toys and resources on offer.
I place each child’s individuality at the centre of my practice and find great joy in building strong, trusting relationships with them. I thoughtfully adapt both my teaching and the environment to reflect and celebrate every child’s strengths, interests, and ways of being. I believe children need plenty of time to play, explore, and follow their interests. My vision is for my home to feel like a “home away from home” — a place where children feel safe, happy, and free to play, while their whānau have confidence that they are receiving high-quality education and care.
