Experience

Hello, I'm Rayleen. With more than 25 years of experience as a Home Based Educator, I am passionate about providing children with a nurturing and enriching start to their learning journey. I hold the New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education (Level 4) and maintain a current First Aid Certificate.

As a mum of three grown children and a proud grandma of two, I understand the importance of creating a caring, supportive environment where children feel safe, valued, and confident to explore the world around them.

Home Environment

Our home is located in a quiet street in Parklands, close to beautiful parks and the beach, providing wonderful opportunities for outdoor adventures and exploration.
Children enjoy a large, secure backyard with plenty of space to play, discover, and develop their physical skills. The seamless flow between our indoor and outdoor areas allows children the freedom to choose where they would like to play while ensuring they are always well supervised.
A wide range of resources and activities are available to encourage creativity, curiosity, problem-solving, and imaginative play. Whether children are building, creating, reading, exploring, or simply having fun, there is always something to spark their interest.

Community Involvement

Getting out and about in our community is an important part of our programme. We regularly enjoy walks to the local library for story time, attend music sessions, and participate in playgroup activities.
We also love exploring natural environments such as the Port Hills and Travis Wetlands, where children can develop an appreciation for nature while learning through hands-on experiences.
For older preschool children, I support school readiness by building connections with local schools and helping children develop the confidence and skills they need for a smooth transition to school.

Childcare Philosophy

I believe every child is a unique individual who deserves a warm, safe, caring, and stimulating environment in which they can grow, learn, and thrive.
Building strong relationships and supporting children's emotional wellbeing are at the heart of my practice. I take time to understand each child's strengths, interests, and abilities, using these as a foundation for their learning and development.
Home-based education offers children the opportunity to learn in a relaxed, family-like setting where they can form meaningful relationships and receive individual attention. I regularly connect with other educators and children to broaden social experiences and friendships while maintaining the benefits of a small-group environment.
Through regular outings, playgroup experiences, story times, music sessions, and visits to natural environments, children gain access to a rich variety of learning opportunities beyond the home.
One of the greatest joys of my role is watching children flourish in a setting where they feel secure, confident, and free to experience the wonder and magic of childhood. I believe children deserve a place where they can learn, laugh, explore, and simply enjoy being children.
