Denise

Hi, my name is Denise, I come from a Nursing background. I have been a Home Based Educator for over 15 years. I hold my Level 3 Certificate in Early Childhood Education, a current First Aid certificate and I welcome any opportunity for professional development to further my knowledge around Early Childhood Education.
I am a Mum and a Grandmother who is very family focused having cared for 2 of my grandsons within my Home Based care and education environment. I often care for the siblings of my families, supporting all children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age to grow and develop.

My care environment is planned for children to independently explore their own interests with a focus on play-based learning, both inside and outside. Early literacy and numeracy are included meaningfully throughout my programme and I have referred to our local Primary teachers to ensure that I am preparing older children for a successful transition to school when they are ready to do so. I promote small group learning experiences around a shared focus which supports developing social skills and language skills. Within this planning are individual plans for the children that reflect whanau hopes and dreams. I have a passion for promoting the children’s individual cultures including Te Reo Maori and Tikanga Maori.
I have two fully fenced outside areas each side of my home which can be alternated for colder and warmer months of outdoor play.

We are lucky to have the park and Bayfair shopping centre close by for small excursions and I like to occasionally meet up with other Educators in the area so the children form relationships with others and experience larger group situations.

Denise is a longstanding Educator and has been fully safety screened including a face to face interview, police vetting, identity verification and has been fully inducted.  A full risk assessment has been undertaken to ensure she is safe and suitable to work with young children.
