Jennifer

I am an ECE certified Home Educator with Home Grown Kids and I have 20 years of experience. I also have two older children of my own.

I have a warm, loving and fun home environment in Wadestown, with maximum of four children a time. I have a great backyard space with slide, cars, bikes and a playhouse. I also have and two little dogs and two cats. We love having music on, reading books, playing with the train tracks, dinosaurs. Outdoor play when the weather suits.
I am also a ceramic artist and enjoy incorporating pottery from time to time into the children’s learning. It's a calming and creative outlet we enjoy.

We go for walks locally, at Otari, and sometimes further afield. We also go to a lot of the local play areas.

I believe children thrive when they feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. My approach to childcare is relationship-based and responsive, guided by each child’s individual needs, interests, and stage of development. I value warm, secure attachments and aim to provide a calm, nurturing, home-like environment where children learn through play, exploration, and everyday experiences. I support child-led learning while gently extending children’s skills through routines, conversation, and shared activities, and I guide behaviour with patience, empathy, and understanding. I value open communication with whānau and am committed to providing inclusive care aligned with the principles of Te Whāriki.

Jen is a longstanding Educator and has been fully safety screened including a face to face interview, police vetting, identity verification and has been fully inducted.  A full risk assessment has been undertaken to ensure she is safe and suitable to work with young children. This assessment was made when they first started with us and periodically thereafter.
Jennifer holds the NZ Certificate in ECE - Level 4 and maintains a current first aid certificate.
