She has a Diploma in Childcare and Education obtained in the UK and her NZ Certificate in ECE - Level 4 and has been involved in a variety of ECE settings including nanny jobs and nursery schools in the UK, Europe and NZ. She brings a wealth of experience having worked with children and families from many different circumstances.

Jody is married to James and they have 2 children - Charlie - James, born in 2011 and Bobby in 2014.

Home Environment

Jody has a designated playroom where the children can spend time with a variety of resources that the children are free to explore. She has a large deck and fully fenced back yard with a sandpit, trampoline and climbing frame. Jody likes to get out and about exploring nature and her and the children spend lots of time in the outdoors, at the local reserves, playgrounds and beaches.

Jody has a lovely and very child friendly dog, Pohutakawa. She will often accompany Jody and the children on local walks in the area and knows her way to the local school and music group.
On home days, Jody provides opportunities for children to be involved in arts and craft, music, imaginative play, play dough, books, baking, puzzles, drawing, water and sand play and outdoor play.

Community Involvement

Jody attends Home Grown Kids playgroups and outings and a local music group and playgroup.

She is close by to many great playgrounds and parks. The children also regularly visit the library, MOTAT, the zoo, Kelly Tarltons, the museum, go on bush walks and many other adventures.

Childcare Philosophy

Jody understands that children learn through play and develop and learn in their own time (ā tōna wā). Her environment reflects the learning and nurturing that happens in tuakana – teina where older children guide the younger and younger ones learn from the older. An emphasis is placed on young children developing resilience and physical skills in a safe and encouraging environment.
