Experience

Hi, my name is Katherine and I have been a Home Based Educator for over 20 years. I hold my Level three certificate in Early Childhood Education, a current First Aid certificate and take every opportunity for professional development with Kids at Home.

I have two beautiful adult daughters, one lives in Australia and works in a childcare centre. The other lives in Tauranga and is a tutor at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology. I am so proud of them both!

I provide a safe, fun learning environment in my home and plan many educational activities for children from three months to five years of age.

Home Environment

My home is fully fenced and there is room for children to ride bikes, run and have fun with water and sandpit play. I provide educational activities and work with the children to prepare them for school.

Community Involvement

The children and I attend regular playgroups and outings which include storytime at Bayfair and Donna dance-a-lot at the Papamoa plaza. We also attend all 'Kids day out' events hosted by the team at Kids at Home, this is a fantastic opportunity for the children to interact with peers and other adults on a larger scale.

Childcare Philosophy

I believe that children should be in a nurtured and caring environment where they can be supported in the choices that they make while they are learning through spontaneous play and I therefore provide many learning resources that are age appropriate.

Achieving milestones is an important part of a child's growth and learning. These are celebrated with families where I provide an open door policy for Whanau to participate in the child's learning either in visiting while in care or out in the wider community

Testimonials

To whom it may concern, Katherine has looked after Ivy, my youngest daughter since March 2016. I was very nervous returning to work as Ivy was only a little bub (4 months!) However Katherine really put me at ease. She was more than happy to work with me through troubles of breastfeeding, expressing and bottle feeding and helped to settle Ivy into a good daytime routine. I think Katherine is amazing! She has such a kind and caring nature, and it is obvious that Ivy adores Katherine. I would highly recommend Katherine to anyone looking for a safe and loving environment for their children
