Experience

Kia ora, I’m Laura! I’m a qualified ECE teacher, now home-based educator with over 18 years experience working with children, specialising in the care of tamariki aged 0–3 years.

I live with my husband, our four children and friendly black lab, Blu!
In my spare time you’ll find me on Mum duties, enjoying time with family and friends, cleaning my house or heading off on an adventure!

Home Environment

NurtureLab is a dedicated play space in my home with areas for family play, art, construction, and plenty of cosy spots! Outside, we have a fenced patio and front yard with a trampoline, māra kai and sandpit.
We do all sorts! I love setting up water play, arts and crafts, messy play and sensory activities, baking and gardening. Most of all, the children get to follow their own curiosity and play how they like.

Community Involvement

I love getting out in the community in the Prambogini - our four seater pram. I also plan excursions that support each child’s learning plans, this might include visiting the local shops, the skate park, a pet store, exploring a playground or farm.

Childcare Philosophy

I focus on nurturing the whole child, building strong relationships with tamariki and their whānau, and learning through calm, play-based, child-led experiences. My practice is guided by attachment theory, neuroscience, Te Whāriki, Pikler philosophy and Te Ao Māori values.
