Hi, I'm Leonie and I have been providing Home Based ECE to families in the local area for around 40 years.
I have 3 children all boys which have left home, and 5 grandchildren.
I hold a NZ Certificate in ECE - Level 3 and 4 and maintain a current first aid certificate at all times.
My home is open plan so there are many wonderful spaces to play and learn in together.
We have a calm and peaceful sleep room is upstairs, while our downstairs is for having lots of fun!
The children have the opportunity to explore the outdoors where there is a sand pit, mud kitchen, swing and slide, ride-ons and other loose parts for outdoor adventures and play.
At my home children can enjoy a wide range of experiences including:
* Play dough and sensory play.
* Group times with stories and songs
* Art and Creative play.
* Imaginative play and loose parts.
* Active play and fun.
We enjoy getting out and about in our local community and attends things such as:
* Music groups
* HGK play group
* Play dates with other educators and their children.
* Outings to Deans bush, Willowbank, Air force Museum, Gondola
* HGK outings and nature play.
Children like routines and consistency so I try to keep to the routine of our day similar, including our kai times, having both indoor and outdoor play, and some new interest based experiences each day.
Each child is unique and they learn in different ways, this is recognised and valued in my home based education setting.
Children learn though the opportunities they are given in play. Through experiences that are open ended, they can discover, explore and grow in their learning.
Leonie is a longstanding Educator and has been fully safety screened including a face to face interview, police vetting, identity verification and has been fully inducted. A full risk assessment has been undertaken to ensure she is safe and suitable to work with young children. This assessment is made when they first start with us and periodically thereafter.
