Experience

I am married with three adult children. I have been providing Home Based childcare for over 12 years now. I have also worked as a nanny, and over the years have cared for quads, triplets and multiple sets of twins. I have completed my Level4 NZ Certificate in ECE and hold a fit for purpose, current first aid at all times. Periodically, I also complete professional development around child protection.

Home Environment

My home provides a warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment where children can feel safe, comfortable and at home. I have a large outdoor area which is fully fenced with a playhouse and a sandpit area, providing plenty of opportunities for the children to explore freely and safely.

Community Involvement

We love to head out on Nature walks which include Kepler track, local Bird park, Ivon Wilson park and many more and regular visits to the library also. We are regular attendees at Tumble-time which is an under 5 indoor gym activities.
Playgroup at another Educators home is an important park of our programme as children get to form a wider circle of friends, many of whom will flow through to primary school.
Mainly Music is another hit for our small group. There are lots of opportunities for song and dance enhancing rhythm and rhyme.

Childcare Philosophy

My childcare philosophy is to make every child who comes into my care feel loved, safe, valued and supported. I want the tamariki to feel like they are apart of our home-based family, with a strong sense of belonging. I want every child to feel accepted for who they are and know that they are cared for and valued.

Service Statement

Rachel has been fully safety screened including ID, Police and referee checking. She has also had a full Children's Worker interview and the service is confident in Rachel's ability to care for children safely and independently. This risk assessment is completed in the initial stages and revisited periodically.
