Experience

Hello, I am Rayleen and come to you with 25+ years of experience as a Home Based Educator. I am a qualified individual who holds the NZ Certificate in ECE - Level 4 and am first aid certificated.
I am Mum to 3 adult children and Grandma to 2.

Home Environment

Situated in a quiet street in Parklands, we have easy access to a number of parks, and are close to the beach.  We have a big back yard that is safe for everyone to explore and a great flow between the indoors and outdoors meaning children can be well supervised at all times without restricting or limiting their play to particular areas.
There are lots of resources for children to use, play, manipulate and create with.

Community Involvement

We are active members in our local community and enjoy walks to the library fro story time, attending music sessions and playgroup.
We also enjoy getting out and about exploring natural areas such as the Port Hills and Travis Wetlands.
Learning for older preschoolers is supported with connections to local schools.

Childcare Philosophy

Each child is an unique individual  who needs a warm, safe, caring, secure and stimulating environment in which to flourish, learn and develop.
Emotional well being and nurturing (along with safety) are my top priorities. I  support each individual child to extend their learning around their own strengths, interests and abilities.
Exploring and learning in our community is a big part of my practice. I meet regularly with other Educators and children, to broaden the friendship base and connect with others. We  regularly attend the HGK Playgroup, Storytimes, Music times and natural environments. These valuable trips provide access to resources, opportunities, and other learning experiences outside of the home.
I watch children thrive in a small and unique setting like Home Based. Children deserve a fun, relaxed, exciting, intimate setting which allows them to enjoy the magic of being a child.
