Experience

I'm a mum of 2 adult children with 1 grandchild. I have been a Home Based Educator for 7 years and holding the NZ Certificate in ECE - Level 4.

Home Environment

My home is in a complex of 15 individually owned townhouses.  Some of our neighbours are elderly and just love to interact with the young children when we are heading out via the driveway.  My home has open plan living that flows out to fully fenced courtyard.  There is lots of outside equipment such as bikes, hoops, balls, water play, sandpit and swing seat. Inside, the children’s play area is continuously resourced to accommodate each child’s individual needs with open ended play. Toys are rotated on a regular basis to keep children interested.
It’s the ideal environment for the younger child to grow with a sense of safety and belonging.

Community Involvement

We love getting out and about, so we learn to listen to instructions while practicing safety and walking together within the driveway, before venturing out onto the public footpath.

* Regular outings to the local parks, learning to be safe while walking together and challenging our bodies on the playground.
* Home Grown Kids weekly playgroup, socialising with other similar aged children while playing, having mat time, and doing crafts.
* Home Grown Kids monthly get-togethers, usually a nature activity with other children and Educators.
* Mainly Music, weekly, being creative with our bodies to music with other children of similar age.
* Bush walks to listen, watch and appreciate nature.

Childcare Philosophy

I’m passionate about fostering children’s independence and interests while building learning opportunities and skill development. I believe that all our children are incredibly competent learners and my home is a wonderful space to foster this for each individual.
I create a loving and nurturing environment for both children and families to feel as they belong in my space and their children can flourish to their full potential.
