Experience

As an experienced qualified teacher who has worked in both centres and home-based, I really feel that my home-based environment is the best of both worlds. I have a purpose-built playroom with many resources available for play that support children’s learning and development. The inside area is set up with two provocation tables, musical instruments, play kitchen, dress up area, book nook, block area, and child sized table for arts and crafts.

Home Environment

I provide a warm caring small environment where children’s individual learning is recognised and extended with planned activities, language and provocations. Which are planned and designed on a one-to-one basis.
I have a large back yard with a greenhouse and garden, covered deck, play and climbing equipment, mud kitchen, bikes and a water play area. As well as varied resources for planned provocations that follow children’s interests set up both inside and outside daily.

Community Involvement

We attend playgroup every Wednesday and have special outings to the library and local parks.

Childcare Philosophy

Within my early childhood practice, I promote and value the following:
Treating each child as a unique individual who learns at their own pace, providing a calm, unhurried and safe environment where tamariki and their whanau feel respected.
Building strong relationships and providing a warm and welcoming environment for tamariki and their whanau to promote a sense of well-being and belonging
Providing a caring small environment where children’s learning is recognised and responded to through planned experiences, language and provocations.

I value natural resources and wooden toys and align strongly with the Curiosity Approach: The Curiosity Approach advocates for calm, neutral spaces, with a focus on loose parts, open-ended resources and natural, recycled and 'authentic' materials.
