Bay of Plenty
Learning through play, exploration and shared experiences
By being part of the Kids at Home team in the beautiful Bay of Plenty, tamariki are able to experience a range of regular events. We have our Tumble Time sessions available over several days of the week.
Here children get to explore a wide variety of physical challenges from balancing and climbing to jumping and rolling, all in a safe and encouraging environment. This not only helps in developing their physical abilities but also boosts their confidence and coordination. The sessions are designed to be fun and engaging, fostering a love for movement and activity.
Community events are available weekly like Donna Dancealot and Jitterbugs where children are able to express themselves through music and movement and support social competence by being part of larger group settings.
Weekly Kids at Home gym group and playgroup support children’s developing social and physical skills while they provide an opportunity too for our Educators to build and nourish their relationships with each other.
Through regular outings, our Visiting Teachers provide access to beautiful parks, reserves, farm visits and beaches to build on children’s experiences of the natural world. These adventures not only immerse tamariki in the wonders of nature, but they also offer invaluable opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration.
Each trip is planned to ensure a blend of fun and learning, allowing children to engage with the environment in meaningful ways. Whether it’s feeding calves at a farm, collecting seashells, or simply feeling the sand between their toes, these experiences help cultivate a deep appreciation for the world around them and a connection to Papatūānuku.
The Bay has so many historic places to learn about and experience and so Pukehinahina – learning about the historic places that surround us is woven through our programme.
